Every Friday, Baxi Gshty or the Public Park in Slemani turns into an Asian traditional food market, with locals and foreigners showing up to try various dishes offered there.
Foreign workers from Nepal, Bangladesh, India, China, and various Asian countries meet and gather at the park to chat and talk and spend some quality time together.
Many citizens of these countries live and work in the Kurdistan Region. Here, each weekend, they have created a new custom of gathering at the park to cook and sell traditional foods from their homelands.
It is noteworthy that there are 30 thousand foreign workers in the Kurdistan region, most of them work in the services and cleaning sector, according to organizations concerned with foreign workers in the Kurdistan region.
