For the first time in its history, the city of Slemani will host an international basketball tournament for girls.
Rizgar Muhammad Rauf, coach of the Iraqi girls' basketball team and organizer of the tournament, said that the first international basketball tournament for girls will start at the end of this month, indicating that the tournament will include the participation of 6 teams and will begin from March 31 to April 2 at the Family Mall.
Preparations are continuing and the International Basketball Federation is aware of this tournament, according to Rauf.
Two teams will arrive in Slemani from Iran during the next few days to take part in the tournament.
The tournament will be open and available to the public and basketball enthusiasts to come and watch the game.
"The purpose of the tournament is to know the level of Kurdish girls in basketball, girls who have been training intensively for a long time, waiting to achieve high results and levels in the tournament," Rauf said.
