Teenage girl killed by her father

A spokesman for the Directorate of Combatting Violence against Women in Erbil’s Soran district told PUKmedia that a 15-year-old girl was killed by her father on Friday morning.

" It was clear that the girl was shot by her father with a Kalashnikov rifle, emptied six bullets into his 15-year-old daughter’s body," spokesman of the Directorate of Combatting Violence against Women told PUKmedia.

“The reason for killing his daughter is claimed to be that she went out with two people,” he added.

An investigation has been launched into the murder and the father has been arrested.

At least 15 women have been killed in the Kurdistan Region since January, according to the parliament’s committee on protection of women’s rights.
