Al-Zamili: Bombing Halabja is the most heinous crime witnessed in modern history
Kurdistan 01:05 PM - 2022-03-16
Hakim al-Zamili, First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, commemorated the 34th anniversary of the Halabja massacre.
Al-Zamili said in a statement: "The Iraqis, the world, and even history will not forget this crime, which is the most heinous crime witnessed in modern history, as the fallen Baath attacked an entire city in which there were only unarmed civilians, women, children, and the elderly, with weapons forbidden to use internationally even during wars and against enemies. The Baath regime proved that its goal was to destroy Iraq."
Al-Zamili called for the need of internationalizing the crimes of the regime as crimes against humanity.
"The dark years that Iraqis lived under the ruling of this bloody regime should push it towards adhering to building Iraq, securing a decent life for future generations, and strengthening the current democratic experience based on equal rights Between everyone, freedom of expression, rejection of extremism and violence, and building good relations with all countries of the world," he continued.
