Qubad Talabani: PUK's Forum is a golden opportunity to reformulate PUK's policy regarding women's issues

Qubad Talabani, Supervisor of the President's secretariat office, Mam Jalal, met this evening with women leaders in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).

During the meeting, Qubad Talabani congratulated the women on the occasion of International Women's Day and discussed the current situation of women in the Kurdistan Region, especially the increase in cases of murdering women and efforts to find a solution to this issue.

Talabani called on the attendees to have a role as political women leaders in order to have an impact on issues related to women and gender equality.

Regarding holding PUK's Forum, Qubad Talabani announced, "PUK's Forum is a golden opportunity to reformulate PUK's policy in general in addition to women’s issues and the strategy of the PUK towards women's issues and gender equality." 

Qubad Talabani affirmed the need for women to work so that they have a more effective proportion and to work alongside men to achieve equality, stressing, "We have many empowered and capable women, and they must hold executive positions to be able to prove themselves."
