Slemani: Blending civilizations with Indian and Kurdish dance performances

A joint dancing event for Indian and Kurdish dancers was held on Saturday at the Culture Hall of Slemani city,  the capital of culture and art.

The event was organized by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and included folk dances performed by both Indian and Kurdish dancers. It was held in the presence of Slemani Governor, Haval Abu Bakr, the Indian Consul in Kurdistan Region Chandramouli K. Kern, and several directors and government officials.

Muhammad Fattah, Director of Culture and Arts Directorate of Halabja, told PUKmedia: "Today we are witnessing the blending of Kurdish and Indian cultural civilizations in dance performances that tell the history, civilization, and culture of countries." 

"We are hosting one of the Indian dance teams on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of India's  Foundation Day," he added.

For his part, Pavidan Dansink, head of the Indian dance team, told PUKmedia: "Today, we are happy to visit the city of Slemani in the Kurdistan Region, the capital of culture and arts, to celebrate together the anniversary of the founding of the Republic in India, which is a national day we celebrate every year," expressing his thanks for the warm hospitality and the beautiful reception from the officials and the people of the city, which expresses their love and respect for India.

It is noteworthy that India celebrates its Republic Day every year on January 26. Republic Day marks the adoption of the constitution of India and the transition of the country to a republic on January 26, 1950.
