Princess Maryam visits Slemani hospital for consultation

"Princess Maryam" visited the hospitals in the city of Slemani for consultations and evaluation of her condition and removing the effects of burns on her face.

Maryam al-Rukabi, 16, was attacked at her home in the Mansour area of Baghdad by a young man who poured acid on her face for refusing to marry him. 

Dr. Shakhawan Saeb, plastic and burn doctor and director of the Emergency Hospital in Slemani, told PUKmedia that "Maryam visited Slemani's hospitals, and tests were conducted for her regarding her health condition."

He added that Maryam returned to Baghdad to consult and decide on treatment in Slemani hospitals, pointing out that burns treatments are carried out using the latest methods, to remove deformities in the face.

For his part, Dr. Sivar Sarbast confirmed to PUKmedia that Maryam visited Slemani hospitals for treatment, without mentioning other details to maintain the confidentiality of the patient.

It is noteworthy that Princess Maryam participated in the inauguration of Al-Mutanabbi Street in Baghdad. In support of Maryam's cause, activists on social media have launched extensive online campaigns to express their moral support for her, in addition to collecting donations.

The Iraqi President Barham Salih also met Maryam a few days ago and listened to details of her harsh conditions after the crime she faced.
