Sunday, Lahor Sheikh Jangi, member of the leadership council of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, received Speaker of Parliament Muhammad Al-Halbousi in the city of Sulaymaniyah, in the presence of Patriotic Union members.
At the beginning of the meeting, the visiting delegation congratulated the Patriotic Union on the success of its fourth general congress. The two sides discussed the political situation in Iraq and the obstacles facing the political process in the country.
Both parties discussed the issue of forming the new Iraqi government, stressing the need for all political forces to participate in the government, from Kurds, Sunnis, Shiites, and all components, to achieve stability in Baghdad.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the need for the government program to be clear regarding the participation of components and the demands of the demonstrators, and the two sides discussed the need for the new government to deal with the Kurdistan Region in accordance with the constitution, and not to make the Kurdistan Region's share of the budget a political issue.
Fears of a resurgence of ISIS-organized activity was one of the themes of the meeting, as the two sides stressed the need to coordinate with US and international coalition forces so that terrorism does not return again.
The meeting highlighted the need for continued dialogue between the two sides and all political forces to preserve the foundations of justice and citizenship for all components of the Iraqi people.
