Success of rare surgery in Kirkuk

Monday, Surgeon Specialists in Azadi Teaching Hospital, in Kirkuk, performed a rare and major supra-surgical operation.


In this context, Dr. Kelan Qadir, Director of Azadi Teaching Hospital, announced the success of a specialized medical team in the hospital in performing a rare and successful surgery in which a complex 28 cm cystic tumor was removed from the left kidney of a 38-year-old patient.


The surgery was performed by Dr. Abbas Kamal Siamandsur, a specialist in kidney and urinary tract surgery at Azadi Teaching Hospital, who he explained that the 38 years old patient was suffering from weight loss and a chronic pain in the left kidney.  


He added that after conducting all clinical and laboratory examinations, the sonar and MRI scanners showed the presence of a 28 cm cystic tumor in the left kidney, which required surgery, in which the cystic tumor was removed from the left kidney and the mass freed from the pancreas and spleen and the posterior wall of the descending colon with a radical lift of the left kidney and is considered as one of the successful rare surgeries which took five consecutive hours. After staying for four days in the surgical hall of the hospital, she was discharged from the hospital in a stable condition.
