During the international conference Ziyad Raoof appealed to help Kurds

19th edition of the international conference “The Role of Catholic Church in the Process of European Integration” took place in Krakow from 11 to 12 October 2019. As every year, one of the guests of the event was Ziyad Raoof- KRG Representative in Poland.

 

For KRG Representative participation in the conference was the opportunity to appeal in front of wide audience to help Kurds. The event was attended by many high-rank guests, representatives of European Commission, members of European Parliament, former president of Poland, former Prime-Minister of Slovenia, diplomatic corps, hierarch of catholic church.

 

Ziayd Raoof took the voice during discussion panel “Religious freedom as a challenge for European politics”. He noted that the Kurds have been fighting for years for religious freedom, they played main role in defeating ISIS, gave shelter to refugees, protected Christians and Yezidis. Meanwhile, today the world is turning its back on them when they fell victim to an attack, and in their cities and villages civilians die in bombing. Ziyad Raoof warned that Europe and the whole world might suffer serious consequences of indifference towards developments in Syria. Another humanitarian crisis starts in the Middle East and ISIS might rebirth.

 

KRG Representative in Poland, thanking for the many words of support for the Kurds that were given during the conference, appealed for specific actions in their defense.

 

In addition to taking part in the panel discussion, the KRG Representative also held several individual talks with Polish members of parliament, members of European Parliament, politicians and former Polish President Bronisław Komorowski.
