The British Museum is to send two copies of the statues of the winged bulls (Lamasu Shedu) to the city of Mosul in the near future.

The Spanish Embassy in Baghdad said in a statement, PUKmedia obtained a copy of it on Tuesday: Two exact replicas of the Lamassu Shedu statues will be transported to their homeland in Mosul, the replicas were created by the Spanish Foundation “Factum” in 2016, which specializes in creating facsimiles of international heritage antiquities, and donated by the British Museum to the University of Mosul, in a gesture of international unity and solidarity with the ISIS-destroyed historic city.

The statement added: The Replicas were created using modern technologies that employ high definition optic scanners, in order to get every detail of the statues correctly. Experts from the foundation will accompany the statues of the Lamassus to install the statues in the University of Mosul, where they will be homed, near the historical Ashurbanipal library.
