President emphasizes importance of developing friendly relations with Russian federation

President Salih received Mr. Maksim Maksimmov, the Russian Federation's Ambassador to Iraq, today in Baghdad.  


During the meeting, the President and Ambassador Maksimov discussed regional political and security issues. The Iraqi-Russian relationship was also discussed, with His Excellency emphasizing the need to enhance the friendly and cooperative Iraqi relationship with Russia so as to serve common interests. The President wished Ambassador Maksimov success in all of his work.  


Ambassador Maksimov, in turn, noted and emphasized the depth of the historical relations between Russia and Iraq, and emphasized the interest of his government in improving these relations in areas of mutual cooperation.
