President Salih: Sherko Bekas conveyed Kurdish poetry to the world

On Sunday, the President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih, reminiscence the great Kurdish poet Sherko Bekas on the sixth anniversary of his departure, praising him for delivering Kurdish poetry from local to global standards.

 

In a tweet on his official Twitter account, President Salih said: Remembrance of Sherko Bekas in commemoration of his departure is to evoke a creative poet who renewed the delivery of Kurdish poetry from local to global standards.

 

He added: He was an example of the rebellious intellectual against tyranny, the national struggler and the man who loved the mountains until he became like them, high and mighty.
