The opening of mass graves in Muthanna

The process of opening the mass graves found in the desert of Muthanna province is due to start soon, said the Ministry of Martyrs and Anfal Affairs in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

 

Fuad Osman, spokesman for the Ministry of Martyrs and Anfal Affairs said in a statement to PUKmedia: "A delegation from the Federal Martyrs Foundation will go to Muthanna province to prepare for the opening of mass graves found recently," pointing out that the Martyrs Foundation is waiting for the arrival of a delegation from the Kurdistan region there to begin the opening of mass graves.

 

He added: After the opening of mass graves, the remains of the martyrs will be transferred to the Department of Forensic Medicine in Baghdad to take samples (D.N.A) of them and then will be returned to the Kurdistan Region.

 

On the number of the remains of the martyrs and the number of graves, Fuad Osman said: "The number of the mass graves are 3 and the number of martyrs are estimated at 350 to 500 martyrs."
