UNESCO recognizes Hawraman as World Heritage Site

At the 44th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee on Tuesday in Fuzhou, China, Hawraman rural landscape in eastern Kurdistan was recognized as a World Heritage Site.

 

The ancient historical sites, the special style of construction, the type of life of villagers have led to the fact that the area has been considered a global archaeological site since 2016.

 

Hawraman is known for its stepped village houses in the foothills, its climate, traditions, clothes, handworks and special foods. The area is located in eastern Kurdistan in both Sinai and Kermanshah provinces, and part of it lying in southern Kurdistan.
