Sherwana Castle in Kalar

This castle is located in Kalar town of the Garmian Administration, 135 km south of Sulaymaniyah. The castle is over 150 years old and it was built by Mahmoud Pasha Jaff, Kurdish king named by the Ottomans Empire in the 1800s, in 1866 and it was completed in  1874.


The castle was renovated in 1998 and it is visited by many tourists annually.
