Stunning Rock-Cut Tombs of Qizqapan in Kurdistan Region

These Rock-Cut Tombs are found in a cave in a mountain 50 km west of Sulaymaniyah in the valley of the Chami Rezan near the Zarzi village.

These Rock-Cut Tombs date back to the era of the kings of the Kingdom of Medes. The cave consists of a hall and three rooms in addition to three open tombs, and statues with several symbols and inscriptions.

The story behind this cave is that a man (commoner) had abducted an elite girl. He took her to that cave and married her. They lived together for many years and, finally, both were buried there after their death.
