"Halabja is important to us, and it's important for us to see its future," says Ulric Shannon

Kurdistan Region - Halabja, on Friday the Canadian Ambassador to Iraq, Ulric Shannon, and the Canadian Consulate in Iraq have been received by Halabja Governor Azad Tofiq. 


Upon his visit, The Ambassador said: "Halabja is important to us and we will support it and we are with the sovereignty of Iraq and we stand against the attempt to hurt that sovereignty."


In a press conference, Halabja governor Azad Tofiq announced: "We talked to the Canadian delegation about the history of the civilization and the life of the people of Halabja, and we explained the tragedy of the chemical attack on Halabja, and they promised to come forward with the Halabja administration in the future and be our allies and supporters."


"Halabja is important to us, and its history makes it important for us to see its future," said Ulric Shannon. 


In response to a question from Pukmedia regarding Turkey's attacks on the region and attempts to hurt the sovereignty of the region, he said: "We are with the sovereignty of Iraq and stand against the overthrow of that sovereignty."
