Kurdistan 01:24 PM - 2021-06-11.
The Criminal Court in Erbil decided to advance the trial date of one of the Dohuk detainees to 7/29/2021.
The decision to imprison 5 journalists/activists in Dohuk, for a period of 6 years, sparked outrage, condemnation, and anger from the people of Kurdistan Region and international organizations concerned with the case of human rights and freedom of expression.
Aso Hashem, one of the lawyers for the Badinan detainees, told PUKmedia: The Criminal Court in Erbil has pushed the trial date of Professor Badal Mazuri from 08/17/2021 to 7/29/2021.
He added: He has been detained for 10 months whereas there has been no evidence against him pointing out that he admitted his participation in civic activity and demanded his salary.
He added: The court accused Professor Badal Mazuri of "threatening security and stability in the Kurdistan Region", with the same charges that were brought against 5 journalists and activists in Dohuk, stressing that they are waiting for his release, as there is no evidence against him.
