Kurdish child participates in a story competition in Armenia

A Kurdish kid from Armenia has participated in the competition of exchanging culture and heritage of the different components of Armenia.
The Armenian Press Agency and the National Radio of Armenia, within the framework of the activities of the International Children’s Day which falls on June 1st, with the support of the Minority Culture Center of Armenia of the Prime Minister’s Office, held a cultural competition to exchange the national heritage among the different components, in which 11 children participated, including Nikolai Mahoyan, a Kurd who lives in the Arminian capital Yerevan.
The competition included presenting stories about the epics of peoples, where 15 stories of the Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Belarusian, Yazidi, Kurdish, and Armenian peoples were presented, and the stories were presented by children from these peoples.
Nine-year-old Nikolai Mahoyan, a Kurdish child from the Armenian capital Yerevan, participated in the competition by reading an epic story from the Kurdish heritage.
Liana Mahoyan, the mother of the kid, told PUKmedia, "We always work to preserve the Kurdish language and heritage and to pass it on to our children, so that the peoples of the region know that as Kurds we have heritage, literature and culture."
She said that she was proud of her son's participation in reading a story from the Kurdish heritage in the Armenian language and on the national radio.
