Georgian Consulate to be opened in Kurdistan Region

Deputy Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Qubad Talabani welcomed Georgia's new ambassador to Iraq, Zaza Kandelaki, on Sunday and discussed the development of relations between the Kurdistan Region and Georgia with him.
During the meeting, Qubad Talabani congratulated Zaza Kandelaki on his inauguration as Georgia's new ambassador to Iraq, and hoped that during his work in Iraq, he would see more progress in relations between the region and Georgia.
Then, both sides expressed their readiness to improve their relations, especially in the fields of trade, tourism, higher education, prosperity and fighting corruption as Georgia has a successful experience in these fields.
In another part of the meeting, the opening of Georgian consulate in Kurdistan region was discussed which is decided to be established in the Kurdistan region's capital Erbil.
