A teenage girl was killed, and her brother and father wounded, in a Turkish bombardment of the family’s home in Syria’s Afrin on Friday.

Co-chair of the Human Rights Organization – Afrin Ibrahim Sheikho told North Press, “14-year-old Zeyneb Ibrahim Hussein lost her live on the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression.” Friday was the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, which was established by the UN in 1982 to publicize the suffering of children.

The Turkish bombardment of the village of Kaluta, in Afrin’s Sherawa district, injured her 11-year-old brother Bakr and her 51-year-old father Hussein, who were taken to a hospital in Zahraa town for treatment.

On Thursday, several villages in the Afrin countryside were subjected to Turkish bombardments, damaging livestock and civilian property.

Afrin has been under the control of the Turkish military and their affiliated proxy militias since March of 2018, when the groups invaded Afrin after two months of constant bombardment. To date, 35 children have died in the Turkish attacks on Afrin and 101 were injured. In addition, 23 other children have been injured in Turkish attacks after their families fled to the northern countryside of Aleppo, according to the Kurdish Red Crescent in Afrin.

The office for handling IDP affairs in Berkhwadan Camp in Aleppo’s northern countryside organized a vigil for children who fled with their families from the Turkish attacks; children raised papers bearing statements such as “I want a house instead of a tent” and “I want to live in peace.”
