Baghdad and Tehran agree to schedule electricity debts
Iraq 11:23 AM - 2021-06-04.
The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity announced an agreement with Iran to schedule debt and near the full re-launch of Iranian gas.
"There are debts and dues payable to the Iranian side," ministry spokesman Ahmed Moussa was quoted as saying.
"If Iranian gas resumes, its production will reach about 22,000 megawatts of electricity," he said, adding that "increased production will be reflected in an increase in the number of hours of electricity supply to citizens."
"Gas releases from the Iranian side are still 20 million cubic meters out of the 70 million cubic meters needed by the Ministry of Electricity in the summer," Mussa said.
