Bafel Talabani: PUK stands with free and bold media

The Co-President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Talabani on Thursday received the European Union's ambassador to Iraq, Martin Huth, and the european Union's official in Kurdistan, Vincent Guillaume Bobo.

 

During the meeting, the issue of freedom of expression and the role of the media was discussed, providing suitable ground for the press profession, obtaining information and giving it to journalists.

 

Pavel Talabani expressed the PUK's position on freedom and freedom of expression, noting that the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) was founded from the outset on the basis of freedom and freedom of expression.

 

"The Patriotic Union stands with free and bold media, because we believe that the democratic process in the region and this society that we are proud of is linked to the voice of freedom and the free and bold media," Talabani said.

 

"We have not been with political punishment, we will not be with it, we do not want Badinan youth to become victims of political objectives, we will continue our attempts to liberate them, and I ask the president of Kurdistan to use his powers on this issue and we must all prevent this dangerous development," he said.

 

The Iraqi elections were another part of the meeting, with the Co-President saying that the Patriotic Union agrees to hold the elections on time and should be fair and supervised by international organizations.
