More than 70 cases of violations against Journalists in Iraq, KRG have been recorded since 2020

Baghdad, The Iraqi Women Journalist Forum on Monday, announced that more than 70 cases of violations have been recorded and that discrimination on the basis of gender will continue.
A report prepared by the Forum for the period from May 3, 2020, to May 2, 2021, monitored more than 70 cases of murder, threats, arrests, imprisonment, harassment, and extortion against journalists and journalists in all cities of Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region, for various reasons, including their coverage of protests in addition to media coverage related to the spread of the Covid 19 epidemic and their transmission of the deteriorating health situation.
The Iraqi Women Journalist Forum also recorded, "More than 12 female journalists and media figures were subjected to discrimination on the basis of gender, harassment and extortion, especially during television programs with direct broadcasts, with the continued absence or weakness of independent media institutions and the dominance of partisanship on the media view in general."
