PUK co-presidents meet with Iranian Foreign Minister

The two co-presidents of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Bafel Talabani and Lahur Sheikh Jangi, in Kurdistan Region's capital Erbil received this evening, Tuesday, the Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif.

 

The meeting focused on further improving relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kurdistan Region 

 

Both parties discussed recent developments, stressing the need for security and stability in the region.

 

PUK co-presidents emphasized that security in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region will be beneficial for the security of neighbouring countries.

 

Both co-presidents expressed happiness that Iran and the US are working on solving their issues, stressing that it will be beneficial for Iranian citizens as recent sanctions were very damaging for them.

 

For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister stressed that the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan after its congress became a stronger force in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

 

Zarif expressed his country's willingness to improve relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in all fields.

 

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived Tuesday in Erbil province, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, on an official visit.

 

Zarif arrived in Baghdad yesterday on an official visit during which he discussed bilateral relations and developments in the region with the three presidencies and his Iraqi counterpart, as well as leaders of political forces and blocs.
