PUK co-leader congratulates journalists in Kurdistan

On Kurdish Journalism Day and the issuance of the Kurdistan Newspaper 123 years ago, Patriotic Union of Kurdistan's co-leader, Lahur Sheikh Jangi congratulated all journalists in Kurdistan.

 

"I hope that Kurdish media will continue its progress and growth.The Kurdish media, a part of carrying out its national and patriotic duty, has always been a courageous platform for freedom of expression, and now plays an important and prominent role in delivering messages, providing information, and identifying shortcomings and injustices, and creating public opinion," PUK co-leader said.

 

"We, as the Presidency of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, reiterate our support for all the media outlets, journalists, and courageous and free voices working professionally within the framework of the law, covering events, providing information, and carrying out their media work, and at the same time, we demand an end to the arrest and torture of journalists in the Kurdistan Region and providing a more suitable environment for their work," he added.

 

"We salute the souls of all the journalists who were martyred for freedom, the progress of democracy, and for conveying the truth," Sheikh Jangi said.
