Iraq 09:33 PM - 2021-04-18.
On Sunday, two people were injured, when rockets landed on Balad Air Base hosting international coalition in Saladin Governorate.
The commander of the Balad Air Base, Major General Dhiia'a Mohsen said: "Rockets fell inside the base today, injuring two people."
According to Iraqi security forces, at least five rockets were fired at Balad Airbase in Salah al Din Governorate late April 18. A least three of the rockets reportedly impacted inside of the base, which is approximately 64 km (40 miles) north of Baghdad. There were no initial reports of casualties or significant damage. As of yet, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
A string of rocket attacks on Iraqi air bases hosting the global coalition forces have heightened tensions in the region.
This attack comes just days after two other attacks- one targeting Erbil International Airport and the other targeting a military base in Nineveh.
Previously, a Feb. 15 rocket attack in Erbil in northern Iraq killed one civilian contractor and wounded at least eight others, including an American service member. And three rockets were fired at the fortified Green Zone in Baghdad, though the attack caused only minor property damage and no injuries.
