Bafel Talabani: PUK is in line with mutual discussions to protect Kurdish people's rights

Bafel Talabani, Co-President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, PUK, welcomed David Brownstein, the US deputy special envoy to Syria, at the PUK's political bureau headquarters in Erbil, stating that PUK is in line with mutual discussions to protect the rights of the Kurdish people, and that dialogue is the only way to solve the problems. 

 

At the same time, at the meeting attended by Rob Waller, the US Consul General in Erbil, the assessment of the general situation in the region, Iraq and Syria, the remnants of ISIS and the role of their allies in the stability and security of the region were discussed in detail.

 

However, Bafel Talabani expressed the PUK's views and attitudes on the latest developments and changes in the region and Iraq, stressing the rapprochement and greater cohesion between political parties and describing the budget approval as positive.

 

During the meeting, the Kurdish issue in western Kurdistan and the situation in Syria were carefully evaluated and the co-president revealed that the PUK is in line with the mutual discussion to protect the rights of the Kurdish people and has called dialogue the only way to solve the problems. He also showed the readiness of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan to create a peaceful future for the Kurds of the West and all the people of Syria.

 

The coordination and more support between the Peshmerga forces and their allies was another topic of the meeting, and both sides agreed on support and co-existence to overcome security issues and confront the remnants of ISIS terrorists.
