On Saturday evening, ISIS terrorists attacked Iraqi army forces killing one soldier and injuring 5 others in the outskirts of Haftaghar area in Daquq town, 49 kilometers south of Kirkuk.

Regarding the attack, Idris Haji Adil, head of PUK's Second Center in Kirkuk, told PUKmedia that the terrorists attacked Iraqi security forces in the Upper Simaqa village in Haftaghar area in Daquq.

He added that an Iraqi soldier was killed and 5 others were wounded and 3 militants of Tribal Mobilization Forces affiliated to Ghalib Albofaraj were also killed in the village.

ISIS occupied vast swathes of land in northern Iraq in 2014, including the major city of Mosul – the second largest city in Iraq. Large parts of Mosul are still destroyed and the bodies of many people killed in the war against ISIS are still lying under rubble.

Although the Iraqi government announced victory over ISIS in December 2017, but remnants of the group still carry out insurgency attacks in attempts to regain strength.
