Bafel Talabani strongly condemns the bombing of Erbil airport

Bafel Talabani, the Co-Leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), strongly condemned Wednesday night's attack  on Erbil International Airport.


In a statement, Bafel Talabani said that prejudice to the security and stability of the Kurdistan region is totally unacceptable, expressing his displeasure at the renewed attack on Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region.


He added: "Protecting the stability of our region is one of our priorities, so the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan confirms its full support for the arrest of the perpetrators of this act," pointing out that coordination will continue with the international coalition who are great supporters in our war against terrorism.


A powerful explosion was heard near Erbil International Airport on Wednesday night, while the Ministry of Interior of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) confirmed that the sound of the explosion was caused by a drone carrying high-explosive TNT, targeting a base of the international coalition forces at the airport.
