Ministry of Interior: The Erbil airport attack was carried out by a drone

The Ministry of Interior of the Kurdistan Regional Government issued a statement clarifying the details of the attack that targeted Erbil International Airport.

 

The Ministry of Interior said in the statement: After investigation and follow-up by the concerned authorities about the causes of the explosion that was heard tonight at Erbil International Airport, it became clear that the sound of the explosion was caused by a drone carrying high explosive TNT, targeting the center of the international coalition forces at the airport.

 

The statement added: luckily, the explosion did not cause any loss of life, but it caused substantial damage to a building, while investigations are still ongoing to determine the source and location of the drone.
