Co-presidents stress the importance of activating budget law in improving citizen's livelihood

Kurdistan Region-Tuesday, The Patriotic Union Co-presidents Lahur Sheikh Jangi and Bafel Talabani received the U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, Matthew H. Tueller, and U.S. Consul General to Erbil, Rob Waller. 

 

During the meeting, views were exchanged between the two sides on the latest developments and changes in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, on the political, security, and economic levels, especially the dangers of the remnants of ISIS on the security and stability of the region, the holding of early elections for the House of Representatives and the strategic dialogue between America and Iraq and the issue of approving the federal budget.

 

During the meeting, the visions, proposals, and decisions of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan on developments and issues were clarified, and importantly they referred to the issue of approving the federal budget and fixing the region’s share in the law, and they stressed the need to activate the budget law to develop the economy, provide a decent life and improve the living conditions of citizens. The co-presidents described this step as an important start to restore confidence between the region and Iraq.

 

Addin to that, The co-presidents renewed the desire of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan to hold early elections to the House of Representatives on time and to take place fairly and transparently under international supervision, far from interference, stressing the need for the elections to express the will of all components, and considering the step by factor for political, security, economic and social stability.

 

On the terrorist movements of ISIS remnants, during the meeting, views were exchanged, and the need for cooperation between the Peshmerga forces and the federal army was more important, with the international coalition forces to confront the remnants of terrorism in order to achieve greater stability in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

 

With regard to the internal conditions in the region, the co-presidents renewed the desire of the Patriotic Union for the unity of ranks and discourse with all Kurdish parties, considering it an important step for the further development of the region in all areas.

 

At the end of the meeting, co-presidents also stressed the need to implement all points in the agreement concluded with the Kurdistan Democrat Party to participate in and manage the government, which becomes a reason for the stability of the region and the provision of deserved life and the provision of services more to the citizens of Kurdistan.
