Iraqi President stresses the need for a new political contract

Iraq-Friday, the President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih stressed the need for a new political contract that would reform the government towards a capable and sovereign state.

 

The President of the Republic said in a tweet, "On April 9, we remember the martyrdom of Imam al-Sadr and the fall of the oppressive regime that committed the most heinous crimes against Iraqis. The major transformations achieved after the change cannot be underestimated, and we must acknowledge failures that can only be justified by the legacy of the previous regime."

 

He added, "We need a new political contract that fixes governance towards a capable and sovereign state."
