Iraq plans to recover frozen funds in Swiss banks

The foreign ministers of Iraq and Switzerland on Saturday discussed iraqi funds frozen in Swiss banks.
The Swiss Foreign Minister, Ignazio Cassis, had arrived in the federal capital of Baghdad.
"The visit of Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis is the first of its kind to the land of Rafidain," Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein said at a press conference, adding that "bilateral relations in various fields between Iraq and Swiss were discussed, and Iraqi funds frozen by Swiss banks were discussed."
"The signing of a memorandum of understanding between Iraq and Switzerland, which is an important step between the two countries," he said, adding that "issues related to migration and displaced persons were discussed at the Swiss and European levels and plans were drawn up to solve the problem of displaced persons".
For his part, Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis said, "We discussed the issue of the reopening of the Swiss embassy in Baghdad," noting that "he will tour Lebanon and Jordan with the same objectives that support stability."
