PUK Co-leaders, Iraqi President discuss latest developments in Iraq

PUK Co-leaders, Lahur Sheikh Jangi and Bafel Talabani along with Kurdistan Region Deputy PM, Qubad Talabani visited Iraqi President, Dr. Barham Salih in Sulaymaniyah Province's Mergapan area discussing latest developments in Iraq, according to a statement from Lahur Sheikh Jangi.

 

The following is the full text of the statement:

"Today I was joined by the Patriotic Union Kurdistan’s (PUK) Co-President Bafel Talabani and Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Qubad Talabani in paying a visit to the Iraqi President, Dr. Barham Ahmad Salih in Mergapan. In the meeting, we exchanged views on the latest political and economic developments in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, especially the issue of the Iraqi federal budget which was approved in the Iraqi Parliament and with it, the share of the Kurds. 

 

We extended our gratitude to Dr. Barham Salih for his patriotic and decisive efforts in bringing the differing ideas closer together to pass the Iraqi budget draft law in parliament and for establishing the Kurdistan Region’s share in it. We reiterated that the passing of the budget is an important step towards improving the livelihoods of the people and providing the full salaries of the region's civil servants without reduction and recovering the economy. We reiterated that adherence to the budget law will lead to economic stability and will end the financial problems that have long been facing the people and their salaries."
