Several Kurdish Karate players from the Khurmal Sports Club are scheduled to take off from the Kurdistan Region to the Turkish city of Istanbul to participate in the International Karate 1 Premier League that is held in Istanbul.

The three Kurdish players (Binar Mustafa, Pazhar Mahdi, and Yusif Salam) from the Khurmal district, 20.4 km north of Halabja, are participating in the tournament in the name of Iraq.

They are scheduled to fly to Istanbul today with their coaches (Rabar Zahir and Muhammad Faris).

The martial art players are professionals who have participated in many other continental and international tournaments and have gained great positions.

Karate is a martial art developed in the Ryukyu Kingdom. It developed from the indigenous Ryukyuan martial arts (called te (手), "hand"; tii in Okinawan) under the influence of Kung Fu, particularly Fujian White Crane. Karate is now predominantly a striking art using punching, kicking, knee strikes, elbow strikes, and open-hand techniques such as knife-hands, spear-hands, and palm-heel strikes. Historically, and in some modern styles, grappling, throws, joint locks, restraints, and vital point strikes are also taught. A karate practitioner is called a karateka
