A Kurdish music teacher from Sulaymaniyah has invented a new type of famous musical instrument, the violin.

The new violin is a mixture between the Kurdish and the European violin.

Mr. Aziz Ako Inayat, a music teacher who teaches students how to play the violin at the Orchestra Institute for Youth in Sulaymaniyah, talked about the new type of violin that he has invented and said: "I have been dreaming to make this instrument for a very long time, fortunately with the help of my friend and student, Mr. Dashti, I have been able to finish it."

He added: "This instrument is a Kurdish instrument, it can be played and used like the violin but has the sound of Joza or Luri violin and we have named it Akon."

Joza, Luri or Kurdish violin is a Kurdish music instrument that is similar to the original violin but its placement while playing differs, where it is placed on the thigh or in front of the musician while playing.
