The activities of the Second Art and Peace Forum began on Tuesday in the town of Kifri in the presence of the supervisor of the Garmian administration, party and government officials, and a number of artists and intellectuals, and the activities are scheduled to last for three days.

The supervisor of the forum, Huner Fakhradin, said in a speech: "The town of Kifri is distinguished by its great artistic and cultural capabilities and the holding of this forum is to shows and develop those capabilities."

For his part, the supervisor of the Garmian Administration, Jalal Nuri, said during a speech: "We are happy that Kifri is embracing these great and valuable activities for the second time at the level of Iraq. This has a dimension and a deep meaning that shows that Kifri is a living and original city of art and artists."

He added: "The city of Kifri is a city of coexistence, multi colors, peace, tolerance and social values."

For his part,  a representative of a German organization delivered a speech during the forum, in which he indicated that the town of Kifri and the people of Garmian had previously suffered major disasters, in the war against the former Iraqi Baath regime, the Anfal operations and in the war against ISIS, so the establishment of such forum and artistic event is important for this town.

Kifri is a disputed Kurdish town in Iraq that has a Kurdish majority and a Turkmen and Arab minority. It is located 177 km south of Sulaymaniyah.
