The negotiating delegation of the Kurdistan Regional Government, headed by Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, will begin its meetings today, Monday, in the capital, Baghdad.

MP Shirwan Mizra, a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, said during a special statement to PUKmedia that the negotiating delegation of the Kurdistan Regional Government will meet with the Kurdish representatives in the Parliamentary Finance Committee.

He added that the meeting will discuss the articles of the Kurdistan Region’s share of the Iraqi federal budget for 2021.

The Kurdistan Region delegation headed by Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, arrived on Sunday to the capital Baghdad to complete negotiations with the Iraqi Parliamentary Finance Committee and the Iraqi political blocs and parties regarding the Kurdistan Region’s share in the draft federal budget law.

For his part, Samir Hawrami, spokesman for the Deputy Prime Minister, said in a special statement to PUKmedia, that the delegation's previous visits to the federal capital Baghdad and its meetings with the federal government and relevant parties included discussing oil and non-oil financial information and revenues of the Kurdistan Region in a transparent manner, pointing out that the regional government delegation expressed its readiness to agree in accordance with the constitution and effective laws.

Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, has led during the past months a series of meetings with officials in Baghdad, to solve the outstanding problems and ensure the dues of the Kurdistan Region and the salaries of employees.

In December of last year, KRG Deputy Prime Minister announced an agreement on the yet to be voted on 2021 budget.

Meanwhile the Iraqi Cabinet spokesman Hassan Nazem said in statement last week that the Iraqi federal government has decided the issue of the Kurdistan region’s share and wants to do 250 thousand barrels of oil per day, and this is what it needs. Rather, this is the opinion on which it settled, as it was agreed upon and the Kurdistan Regional Government agreed to it, explaining that the issue of the Kurdistan Region’s share of the budget has not been decided by the Iraqi Council of Representatives and not by the government.
