On Monday, Global Coalition spokesman Colonel Wayne Marotto announced the continuation of joint military operations with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to pursue the Islamic State (ISIS) sleeper cells.

Marotto shared a post on Twitter about a joint military operation with SDF which resulted in the arrest of an individual smuggling ISIS families out of Hawl Camp in Hasakah’s countryside.

Marotto tweeted, “The Coalition continues to work with the SDF to degrade the limited capabilities of Daesh remnants in NE Syria.”

On Monday, the Coordination and Military Operations Center of the SDF stated that their special units from the SDF detained a main wanted for smuggling ISIS families in Hadadiya, south of Hasakah, with air surveillance and support from the Global Coalition.

The SDF was able to arrest one of its wanted men, without revealing his name, the smuggling network in which he works, or the destination to which the families of the organization are sent.

“Such operations demonstrate our unified effort to #DefeatDaesh, provide security, & deny the terrorists the needed resources to resurge in the area,” Marotto tweeted.
