Students are finally back in schools in the Kurdistan Region

After nearly a year of suspension following Covid-19 measures, school doors were finally opened on Sunday in the Kurdistan Region.

 

The students in their first academic stages at the elementary school to those in the 12th grade of Highschool are all resuming their education at schools.

 

The Ministries of Health and Education have taken many preventive measures to combat the risk of outbreak of Corvid in schools, such as providing masks, sanitizing the schools after daily school hours end, each student's temperature will be measured before entering classes and if there were 5 positive cases at one school, it must be closed for at least 14 days.

 

The Supreme Committee to Combat Covid in the Kurdistan Region decided to open the doors of schools and consider a period of 16 days as a trial period for evaluating health conditions, and then it will take the appropriate decision about continuing on this approach.

 

It is noteworthy that the doors of schools were closed in the Kurdistan Region on 26/2/2020, due to the spread of Covid-19 virus.

 

So far the Kurdistan Region has recorded 106,419 cases of Covid-19 with 3,485 deaths and over 101,250 recovery cases.
