For the first time, woman becomes Deputy Governor of Sulaymaniyah

In a special ceremony that took place on Sunday, Layla Omar assumed the position of Deputy Governor of Sulaymaniyah to become the first woman to hold such position.

 

Governor of Sulaymaniyah Haval Abu Bakr said during a press conference: " Today Mrs. Laila Omar received the position of the Deputy Governor of Sulaymaniyah."

 

He added: "We welcome her in this position, and we will work together in cooperation with the rest of the administrative units as one team to serve the citizens in Sulaymaniyah Governorate and complete service projects."

 

For her part, Mrs. Omar thanked, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Qubad Talabani, for giving her this confidence, stressing that she will work with all heads of administrative units to serve the people of Sulaymaniyah.

 

She said: "God willing, we will work to serve all citizens in Sulaymaniyah Governorate without discrimination, and we will end projects that serve citizens."
