Lahur Sheikh Jangi, Co-leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, received Thursday the head of the slemani provincial council and the Green Block members in the Provincial council, addressing the importance of Decentralization and the PUK efforts with the Iraqi and Kurdistani factions in working for the best interests of the people of Kurdistan, according to a statement from Sheikh Jangi's official Facebook page.

The following is the full text of the statement:

"Today we received the head of the Slemani Provincial Council and the Green Block in the Provincial Council. In the meeting, we shed light on the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s (PUK) efforts with the Iraqi and Kurdistani factions in working for the best interest of our people, in order to find an appropriate settlement for the outstanding problems.

We put forth the issue of decentralization as one of our agreement points with the Kurdistan Democratic Party in forming the cabinet, and we reiterated the PUK’s position when it comes to implementing the system of decentralization (both financial and administrative) in all the provinces of the Kurdistan Region to offer better services to the people.

We also put forward the oil dossier and stated how this valuable fortune has caused misfortune for our people instead of prosperity. We talked about the Kurdistan Region’s share in the 2021 Iraqi federal budget and reiterated our support for passing it in the Iraqi Parliament and stressed that the bettering of the livelihood of the people of the Kurdistan Region is connected to the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Government coming to an agreement to resolve all the outstanding issues.

We explained that we are currently experiencing a delicate period and that the PUK has its own discourse and perspective and will take its own decision and offer its political position at the right time and will never withdraw the promises it has made to the people. We extended our gratitude to the head and the members of the Green Block in the Slemani Provincial Council for their points and proposals and asked them to intensify their activities to better serve the people."
