MP: KRG with Iraqi Finance Committee meeting was positive

Within the framework of Sunday's visit to the capital, Baghdad, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) delegation met with the Iraqi Parliamentary Finance Committee to discuss the draft federal budget bill for 2021.

 

Regarding the meeting, MP Shirwan Mirza, a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee and PUK bloc member in Iraqi parliament, said during a special statement to PUKmedia: "The meeting was positive and discussed many issues related to the Kurdistan region’s share of the federal budget for 2021."

 

He added: "The members of the Finance Committee directed some questions to the KRG delegation, which in turn confirmed that they would respond to these questions at the next meeting."

 

MP Shirwan Mirza indicated that the KRG delegation's meetings with the Finance Committee will continue on Monday and Tuesday as well to reach an agreement on the pending financial files between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi federal government.

 

On Sunday a KRG delegation arrived at the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, to discuss the Kurdistan Region's dues in the draft federal budget law for 2021.

 

The delegation included, KRG Finance Ministers, Awat Sheikh Janab, and Minister of Planning Dar Rashid and the Minister of State for negotiating affairs with Baghdad, Khalid Shwani and Cabinet Office Chief Omid Sabah.

 

Last December Mr. Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the KRG, announced reaching an agreement with the Iraqi Government after two weeks of negotiations between KRG delegation, headed by Mr. Qubad Talabani, and Iraqi officials in Baghdad.

 

According to the budget bill that was sent to the Iraqi parliament after its been approved by the Iraqi council of ministers, the Kurdistan Region's share is 12.67% on conditions that the Kurdistan Region must deliver a daily 250,000 barrels of oil to the Iraqi oil marketing company SOMO and 50 % of non oil revenues to the Iraqi government.
