Barham Salih discusses latest political, security and economic developments in Iraq with Mustafa Kadhimi

Dr. Barham Salih, President of Republic of Iraq, received at the Baghdad Palace, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, discussing the political, security and economic developments in the country.

 

Emphasis was placed on the need to consolidate stability in the country, preserve the security and safety of citizens, strengthen the authority of the security services and law enforcement, protect community peace and security, prevent outlaw activities and control fugitive weapons.

 

The two sides also discussed the upcoming elections, as it was stressed the need to support all measures necessary to make them successful, prevent fraud and manipulation, and seriously invite international observers in coordination with the relevant department in the United Nations mission, and to ensure the opportunity for broad participation in the elections.

 

The meeting also touched on the economic conditions in the country and the financial budget, and the two parties agreed on the importance of passing the draft budget bill in a manner that protects the rights and pensions of all Iraqis, especially the low-income social strata, and to reach radical solutions between the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government about the outstanding financial issues in a manner that guarantees the rights the employees.
