PUK Co-leader, Lahur Sheikh Jangi, participated Sunday in PUK Relations Bureau Conference and met with PUK representatives from abroad, discussing latest developments in Kurdistan Region and Iraq, according to a statement from the PUK Co-leader's official Facebook page.

The following is the text of the statement:

"Today, via a video conference, I participated in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s (PUK) Relations Bureau Conference and met with PUK representatives from abroad. We talked about the latest developments in Kurdistan, Iraq, the region, and the PUK’s role in the political arena. We informed our colleagues abroad about the party’s style of work after the 4th party congress and about the PUK’s role in settling the problems to better serve the people of Kurdistan.

We discussed the corona pandemic, and how it has placed obstacles in front of the party’s work, but that the PUK has continued with its efforts, taking into consideration our people’s best interests and have managed to provide the hospitals with drug and other medical assistance in several cities and towns all over the Kurdistan Region.

We spoke about the efforts of the PUK to settle the outstanding problems both in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and reiterated PUK’s insistence on the importance of the system of decentralization to offer better services to the people and announced that within the framework of our agreement with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), we expect the Kurdistan Regional Government to go along with the decentralization system, both financially and administratively for all of the provinces of the Kurdistan Region. We talked about our visit to Baghdad and the meetings with the Iraqi factions in order to settle the outstanding issues and to convince the factions and the Iraqi Federal Government to pass the Kurdistan Region’s financial share in the 2021 Iraqi federal budget. We explained the plans PUK has for the representatives in the future and extended our gratitude to them for carrying out their duties and asked them to prepare themselves to better serve the Kurdish community abroad"
