On Sunday, a Kurdish specialist in internal diseases said that people who overcame Covid do not face a risk of contracting the mutated virus.

Dr. Dahat Hawezi, Director of the Martyr Hemin Hospital for treating people with Covid-19 in Sulaymaniyah, told PUKmedia: "According to researches, people who have been previously infected with Covid and overcame the disease have formed a body immune and the new mutated virus that was discovered in UK is no danger to them."

The researches confirms that the same vaccine present now effects the mutated virus as well, it is true the new virus spreads faster, but its dangers on humans lives are less," he said.

He pointed out that the same treatment protocols that were used with the old Covid virus are also used with the mutated virus, and there is no new virus, but rather they are the same virus but it is the latest mutation in its type.

Talking about Covid in the Kurdistan Region Dr. Dahat said: "Covid infection rates have decreased in the Kurdistan Region in general, in Martyr Hemin Hospital for Covid cases, there are nearly 20 Covid cases left who all are in stable conditions."
