Iraqi Electoral Commission calls on organizations and embassies to monitor the upcoming elections

The Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission called on international organizations and Arab and foreign embassies to monitor the upcoming electoral process.

 

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided the commission with the names of 52 Arab and foreign embassies and 19 international organizations, and the commission sent invitations to monitor the stages of the electoral process," said the Electoral Commission spokeswoman Jumana Al-Ghalai.

 

She added: "The number of voters who will participate in the upcoming elections reached 25 million 139 thousand and 375, while the number of registered biometric reached nearly 15 million voters, while the total number of cards distributed reached nearly 13 million biometric cards."

 

She also spoke about "an increase in the number of people wanting to update their data on holidays to ensure participation in the elections, because the majority of voters are employees who take advantage of the holidays to visit those 1079 centers."

 

Al-Ghalai added, the Ministry of Migration has also provided the Electoral Commission with the latest status of the displaced in the governorates of Nineveh, Anbar, Erbil, Duhok and Sulaymaniyah, as the commission registered 838 displaced persons until until January 12.

 

According to the Electoral Commission, 231 political parties have been given permission to candidate for the elections out of 430 who have applied for candidacy. 85 new parties have register for candidacy in the upcoming Iraqi elections scheduled for next June.
