Discussion on Iraq's 2021 budget bill still continues: MP

The Iraqi Parliamentary Finance Committee continues to discuss the draft Iraqi budget bill for 2021 with the relevant ministries and government agencies.
MP Shirwan Mirza, a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, said during a special statement to PUKmedia: The Finance Committee initially discussed all the paragraphs and items of the draft federal budget law for 2021.
He added: The Finance Committee has formed sub-committees to meet with ministries, government agencies and governorates to discuss the items and allocations in the draft budget law.
He explained: The sub-committees will begin their duties from tomorrow, Saturday, and the Finance Committee will then discuss the articles of the budget bill in detail.
The Finance Committee had confirmed earlier, that it will proceed with a new philosophy to prepare a sober budget that makes ministries and government institutions productive as well and not only consuming. The committee also called on all ministries to submit their investment projects and their plan for the year 2021 and what has been achieved from the profits of the past year to reassess them and discuss ways to improve them.
The committee stressed the importance of reducing the deficit rate as much as possible in the budget in accordance with the Financial Management Law in a scientific and thoughtful manner, but without prejudice to the salaries of employees and retirees, the social welfare network, the dues of farmers and contractors, and without disrupting the work of the government.
The Finance Committee indicated the need to maximize non-oil revenues, pressure unnecessary expenditures, merge similar institutions and directorates, as well as reconsider the oil licensing rounds.
